SPECIALITY OF PAKISTAN
Pakistan,
officially the Islamic republic of Pakistan, is a federal parliamentary
republic in South Asia. The name Pakistan literally means “land of pure” in
Urdu and Persian. It is the sixth-most populous country with a population
exceeding 200 million people. Pakistan has a 1,046 km coastline along the
Arabian Sea and the Gulf of Oman in the South and is bordered by India to the
east, Afghanistan to the west, Iran to the southwest and China in the far
northeast respectively.
Pakistan
is considered a cradle of civilization, which was previously home to several
ancient cultures, including the Mehrgarh of the Neolithic and the Bronze Age
Indus Valley Civilization, and was later home to kingdoms ruled by people of
different faiths and cultures including Hindus, Indo-Greeks, Muslims, Turco-Mongols, Afghans and Sikhs.
The area has been ruled numerous empires and dynasties including the Indian
Mauryan Empire, the Persian Achaemenid Empire, Alexander of Macedonia, the Arab
Umayyad Caliphate, the Delhi Sultanate, the Mongol Empire and the British Empire.
Pakistan
is unique among the Muslim countries as it is the only country to have been
created in the name of Islam, and it is the only nuclear power among the Muslim
countries. It became the nuclear power on 28 May 1998. It is a federal
parliamentary republic consisting of four provinces and four federal
territories. It is ethnically and linguistically diverse country.
Pakistan came in to being on 14th
august 1947 under the leadership of Muhammad Ali Jinnah from the British rule.
British captured India from 18th century. Pakistan is a major non-
NATO ally of the United States in the war against terrorism- a status achieved in
2004.
Pakistan has world most beautiful places for
visit, especially at its best in northern areas and Kashmir region. This part of the country is famous all around
the world because of sky high mountains, lush green valleys, mighty rivers,
beautiful lakes and amazing wildlife. The Paradise on earth ‘Neelum valley’ Mini
Switzerland ‘Swat Valley’ and mountain kingdom ‘Hunza Valley’ are the main
tourist attractions in Pakistan. All these places are real natural beauty of
the world.
People
from all over the world, visit to these places yearly. The 2nd highest mountain K2 is
present in Sikardu Pakistan. Nazir Sabir is the first Pakistani to cross the
Mount Everest, and Samina Baig is the first woman climber to cross the Mount
Everest.
Hockey
is the national game of Pakistan. It has remained four times world champion in
hockey. It has a great cricket team which has won two world cups; one in one
day cricket and the other in T twenty crickets. The sport in which Pakistan has
achieved most success is squash.
Pakistan
dominated squash like no other country in the world, the domination lasting for
the best part of 5 decades. It reached its peak in the 1980s and 1990s during
the reigns of Jahangir Khan and Jansher Khan. Between 1950 and 1997, Pakistan
amassed over 30 British open titles and 14 world open titles.
